Mission
My mission is to create enduring art that brings people joy and makes the world more beautiful for current and future generations.
Style
My goal is to showcase the natural beauty and uniqueness of each piece of wood, often enhancing it with the contrast and stability of carefully applied epoxy. I believe that the wood's natural grain and patterns should guide the style and direction of each piece.
My story
I've always had a passion for building things. From a very young age, I accompanied my dad to his contractor job sites, which undoubtedly fueled my interest in construction. This early exposure gave me a hands-on understanding of tools and building materials, knowledge that became second nature before I even realized it. It wasn’t until a middle school group project—where we built a wooden castle—that I began to recognize my experience and skills were somewhat unique.
Fast forward to the pandemic: I suddenly found myself with more free time than I’d had in years. After working full-time while completing two bachelor's degrees and an MBA, this change was a stark contrast to the busy life I was accustomed to. Without a major goal to focus on, I felt restless. The pandemic also limited social opportunities, leaving me with even more downtime. During this period, I stumbled upon a photo of a live-edge wood and epoxy coffee table that someone had made. I was captivated by the blend of natural lines and vibrant colors, and I started researching the process behind it. This sparked a deep interest in a new woodworking medium that seemed full of creative possibilities. Before long, I found myself at Sacramento Urban Wood Rescue, selecting my first live-edge slab for what would be my initial foray into epoxy woodworking. Although that first project had its share of challenges, it taught me a lot and inspired me to keep pushing forward.
Today, having developed proficiency in many of the technical aspects of working with wood and epoxy, I'm dedicated to elevating my craft to new heights. I love experimenting with fresh ideas and continually refining my skills and techniques. I hope you'll join me on this exciting journey, finding joy in something I've created or collaborating together to bring a new idea to life!
